THE PETITION TO KEEP ADULT AND COMMUNITY EDUCATION COURSES OPEN IN BRADFORD

To the House of Commons.

The Petition of the residents of the Shipley constituency and surrounding area.

Declares that the Petitioners are extremely concerned about the cuts to adult education funding to Colleges in the Bradford District.

The Petitioners therefore request that the House of Commons call upon the Government to recognise the importance and urgency of this problem by granting a debate on Adult and Community Education and to ensure the government provides sufficient resources to run a full range of community education courses.

The petition will be presented to parliament after Gordon Brown takes over as Prime Minister. Everyone who signs the petition will be notified of his response by email.

WHAT IS THE IMPACT ON BRADFORD?

According to a statement in the House of Commons, enrolments at Bradford College have fallen from 8,249 to 5,437. That's even before the latest round of course closures all across the district.
